Ok everyone, I know that you can see this exact same mod on the PPE site, BUT... I decided to do the mod and take "real world" do it in the driveway pics. Plus I did a few things different than the PPE site shows.. The tools that I used were a Phillips & Flat Screwdriver, and a keyhole saw, which is just like a real short hacksaw. And a couple of Coors Lights (optional). Heres my step by step LBZ Airbox mod.

Step 1:

Remove the Air Flow sensor by depressing the center "button" and just pulling straight back

Step 2:

Loosen These 2 Screws.

Step 3:

Remove the Air Box lid, and the air filter. The filter fits in there pretty tight, so I put my hand in there and gripped the center hole of the filter and pulled up and out. There is a small tab in the bottom of the airbox to prevent the filter from coming straight out.. A little wiggling back and forth and it comes right out.

Step 4:

Pop the tube off the back of the airbox and grab it with both hands and pull straight up and towards the side of the truck and it will pop right out. Pay attention to the little ruber grommets on the bracket where the airbox sits. Im sure you dont want to lose those.

Step 5:

Now we need to remove the little protective cover that "protects" your intake from cooler air.. I used a flat screwdriver to get next to the 3 spots where its clipped into the front end.

Step 6:

Ok, with the truck mods done, lets move to the airbox. I put one hand inside the air box and just pushed up on it where it attaches to the fan looking part. There is two spots where it snaps in, so I just pushed on the backside of one of the snaps and popped the fan part right out..Its probably a good idea to pay attention to the rubber grommet on the airbox, so as not to tear it up.

Step 7:

I used a keyhole saw to do this, but you can also use a roto tool, hacksaw blade or even a good sharp box knife. If you use the box knife, you will just have to score it real good several times and then cut from the other side to get through the plastic. This is what I cut out.. I cut the "Front" of it, instead of the top.. the part that is missing on mine is right behind the headlight.

Step 8:

Ok, now we start putting it back together.. I just checked the rubber grommets on the airbox mount in the truck, then popped it back in place and hooked the tube to the turbo back up & re-installed the air filter (now is a god time to change it if yours is nasty). Make sure you push the air filter back in there past that little tab or it wont seal off very good and your turbo could suck some trash up in it!!

Last Step:

Now just re-install the airbox lid, and make sure to tighten both of the screws you loosened back up. I grabbed the airbox and tried to move it to make sure I had it snapped back in those grommets on the bottom.. Hook up your air flow sensor again and you can see how mine looks here when I was done.

These are the only parts I have left over.. The fan looking thing, the small cutout from the airbox, and the front protective cover. I chose not to sut the inner ring like the other instructions showed though. I figured opening it up as much as I did, was gonna make a fairly significant improvement. But you can cut yours if you so wish.
